I Just Need A Little Motivation…

I am always starting a diet.  I do this maybe once a week.  It’s terrible!  I really do wish I had more motivation and discipline.  As I sit here reading a new blog I found (I won’t link it because I really didn’t enjoy her personality)  and listening to Fat Bottom Girl ( have no idea how that happened) I was thinking I should get up and work out.  Then I was like like ‘oh it’s 12:30 am, I don’t want to get sweaty before bed’.  I always have an excuse. Always!

This one blog was pretty neat though.  She is trying to lose weight and get in shape after having a baby, but she is blogging about her experience.  I am thinking maybe I will try this.  Of course, you all will see how I only last a few days:) I expect results immediately and when that doesn’t happen, I give up!  I am not sure about my plan yet.  Cutting back of course and hopefully exercising.  Right now my goal would only be to lose 5 pounds.  I am trying to be realistic here and set simple and reachable goals.  I plan to start this tomorrow! Wish me luck! (even though I don’t believe in luck….)

Dress Pattern

I bought this pattern and fabric 8 years ago!  It seemed like a pretty simple dress and I was so excited to make something.  Some how that never happened.  After digging around in my old fabric, I found this and decided to give it a shot.  Thankfully even though my dress size has changed since then, I still had enough fabric!

The pattern review that I read said this dress was very simple to make.  It said it was a beginners dress for sure.  Well, I must be several levels below beginner because I was having to google everything to figure out what the terms meant.

I went to a craft night with some ladies at church and thankfully I was able to get help from my friends there.  I would not have been able to do this alone.  You can ask Tara & Elizabeth.

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.  It still needs to be ironed however.  I added the belt, which was suggested by a friend.  This was the only one I had at home that looked half decent with it.

Any thoughts?

New Hair Dryer

Can you dry your hair with a space heater? I can and I did.  I have had my trusty hair dryer for at least 7 years now.  It has been perfect.  It blows out the perfect amount of air and heat.  It is the perfect weight and the perfect size.  It is now dead.  I have been really, really sad.  Those of you that don’t have a perfect hair dryer just can’t understand.  A new, different hair dryer styles your hair completely different!  I will be honest, I didn’t take great care of it.  The only time the filter got cleaned out was when it started smelling like it was burning or it started shooting sparks.

About the space heater, I was desperate, it was there.  It definitely didn’t give me the volume I needed, but it did the job.  Yes, I laid on the floor in front of it. It’s a tower space heater.  Keep this in mind if your trusty hair dryer dies.

I went in search of a hair dryer today.  The last hair dryer I bought was for the salon.  It was a nice dryer.  Light weight, good heat, okay blowing power, long cord.  The only problem I had with it was the hole with air came out of was too small.  It was a Babyliss brand which is an excellent professional brand.  My personal opinion on hair dryers is, there isn’t a big difference in cheap and expensive.  My $75 Babyliss hair dryer wasn’t any better than my cheap one from walmart. The only positive thing is it had a long cord which is important at a hair salon.  Unfortuantley that hair dryer was lost or stolen.  I say stolen, Ian says lost:)

Anyways, I found one. I am pretty excited about it.  It’s a Revlon dryer. It is small like my other one.  Light weight.  Hopefully it will be wonderful.  I was excited that it was only $15.  Yay!

Is it pneumonia or not???

Ty has a cough for a few days now, but on May 12th he woke up breathing REALLY hard, a fever, and still a cough.  The fever and cough were nothing new to us.  Ty gets sick a lot, this cough wasn’t anything scary, I knew he would be better soon.  The breathing was what scared me.  We were able to get him in to see his doc the same day.  We were in and out in 10 minutes.  Daryl, our doctor, listened to his lungs and said it sounded like he might have pneumonia.  He sent us to the ER to have x-rays done.  They told us after 3 hours that he did not have pneumonia, it was something else. He kept saying bacteria.  We have no idea what that meant.  He put him on antibiotics and steroids and gave him a breathing treatment before he sent us home.  Said he saw no reason to keep him.  Told us to make an appoint the next morning to see our family doc.

SoOOo our family doc wasn’t going to be in today, so he scheduled us an appointment with a co worker.  The coworker said he still thought it was pneumonia.  That he wanted him to go back to the hospital to be evaluated for a day or 2.

We came to the hospital, got settled in the room, the talked to the doc here.  She said according to the x-rays he does not have pneumonia, it must be a virus.

Tonight, we were told by the nurse that he does have pneumonia, we told her that we were told he did not, so she went to check again.  She came back to say that it does say he has pneumonia in his file, BUT if the doctor this morning looked at his x-ray and said he doesn’t have it, then he doesn’t have it.  blah!! So, as of right now he does NOT have pneumonia.  This is exhausting!  He is not being treated right now since it looks like a virus.  We were told to stop giving him the meds the ER gave him last night.  He does have an IV for fluids and a oxygen thing in his nose.

They said they are pretty much trying to get his breathing back to normal, then he can go home.  Hopefully we will see the doctor early tomorrow.

He has been VERY pitiful.  He cries every time a nurse comes in the room.  He cries “mama dada mama dada my-nah my-nah my-nah” that’s mama, dada, and micah for those that can’t understand baby talk:)

I went home tonight to get a few things from the house, visit with Micah and put him to bed.  I let the boys talk on the phone for a few minutes and it was THE sweetest thing ever.  Micah was saying ‘ty’ over and over…Ty was saying ‘my-nah’. It really was very sweet.  I know they will be very happy to see each other again.

Please keep us in your prayers.  Even when we get to go home this won’t be over.  Ty will still be sick and pitiful for a few days.  It is exhausting and sad!

Even though this is so hard, I am definitely thanking God that it wasn’t worse than this.  We could have been in Vandy again and so far from Micah.  Ty’s sickness could have been much worse.  It is so scary to have a sick baby but our hope and trust is in God.  That is how we get through this.

fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10

DownEast Basics

The MOST awesome thing happened to me…I WON $100 gift card to DownEast Basics!!!  I really never win anything!

I follow this blog How Does She and they were doing a give away.  I hardly ever enter, I mean, what are the chances I will win??  I would give you the math if I knew, but I don’t.  So, I look it over and think ‘I will enter because there isn’t much work to do to enter, but I will never win’  I only entered because of  (this) really cute swimsuit.  Now, I am a cheapo when it comes to swimsuits.  I refuse to pay over $30.  I guess if there was one that promised to fit perfectly and have the right amount of coverage I MIGHT pay more…but it would have to be PERFECT!  I decided, if I win, I will buy that swimsuit…..

I won!!!!!!

I am not buying that swimsuit:) I looked around and found one that I liked even more for various reasons.  I have a whole list.  This was a hard decision!

They are also doing this deal where you spend $100 dollars, you get $20 dollars off.  It was real simple.  I spend $120 in gift money and pay maybe $10 of my money for shipping. Excellent!  The decision was harder than it sounds.  I had to make the right choices of course.  There were tons of things I loved, but sadly they didn’t have my size in most everything.  Medium must be a popular size?!!

Anyways, I was so excited about my purchases, I thought I would share with everyone what I picked out!

I am so excited to get my gifts!! I hope they all fit!

Oh! and I forgot to say…like 853 people registered to win!  I won!! can you tell I am excited??

$9.10

I follow at least 2 different blogs, maybe 3, where the ladies go to yard sales then post their things for all to see.  Now that it is ‘yard sale season’ I thought I might do the same.  I love my sleep, so it just depends on whether I can get up  early enough to go:)

My first sale of the year was a neighborhood sale.  It was perfect to just park and walk.  For my first trip I feel like I did ok.  I was mostly in search for t shirts and shorts for the boys, specifically things they could wear to church also.

1.00…. 50 cents each for cute winter hats!

005

.10…. you really can’t beat 10 cents for a shirt with a basketball on it!  Ty loved it as soon as I showed it to him.  They are CRAZY about basketball!!

009

4.00…. plaid shorts were 2.00, brown 1.00, and shirt 1.00

012

and why not buy my self something if I find it??  4.00

skirt 2.00, t shirt 1.00, 2 nursing tanks for .50 each.  No, I don’t need the tanks anytime soon, but they were a great price, I figured maybe I could use them eventually or someone else could use them!
