Church Baby Shower…

My church hosted a baby shower for me and 2 other lovely ladies (Alicia & Lacy)  last weekend.  It was such a blessing coming together with so many wonderful women from my church to celebrate the births of our sweet babies.  One thing I love about my church is there are so many young moms right now.  Last time I was pregnant I got to enjoy it with with 2 or 3 other women.  This time there were 6 of us!  Wowza!  Nursery is going to be fun soon with all these babies crawling around.  Anyways, it was sweet of them to put together a shower for us and for one of the women in our church to open her home to us.

Baby Bedding Is Almost Finished!!!

I am SO excited to say that the bedding is almost finished!  I have 1 section left that I have totally messed up and my dear sister is going to fix it for me while I am at the hospital having the baby.  As for my part, I have to sew on the ties and that will be it! I will be done!  I just need to buy brown thread.  Maybe that will happen tomorrow.

Here is a few photos of her bedding and other random things in her room.  I have probably said this before, but it really makes me happy to go in there.  It’s just so bright with all that pink in there.  Which reminds me, I still need to get curtains before she starts sleeping in there.  The brightness won’t be so fun then.

It’s very loose looking since I don’t have it tied up yet.  But here is a picture where you can see the 3 different fabrics I used.

Here is the inside fabric. I LOVE it!!  I am also pretty excited about these sheets my sister found.

Now this really is Cute as a Button!  This was a gift from one of my clients that has great taste and does an excellent job coming up with gift ideas.  It’s perfect! Thanks Sandy!!

Sweet little booties for her tiny little feet.

I am seriously loving this frame!

I LOVE this quote by Elizabeth Prentiss.  If you have never heard it before you should definitely take the time to read it.  I already knew that this would be in her room as soon as I found out I was pregnant.  I was so excited to receive it as a gift and didn’t have to print it off myself!! One thing off my check list. HA!

So, her room is definitely not what I had in mind when I thought about having another child.  She is sharing a room with our desk top computer, a big grey cabinet that has Ian’s tools and other random things in it, and a dresser that has some of our clothes and some of my crafts in.  Thankfully she won’t even know or even care.  I am excited about her 2 walls though. haha.

We have definitely been blessed with gifts for all 3 of our children.   God has definitely provided for us.  We are so thankful for all our family and friends that have blessed us with so many nice things.  Thanks to all!!

Bedding, Names, Showers, and Training…

Will she really be here in less than 4 weeks?? I know the time will go by too fast!  I am not sure that we are ready for this.  I mean, we don’t even have a name yet!! I honestly feel like we aren’t even close!  It would probably shock most of you to know how little time we have put into talking about this.  It will happen eventually!

Her bedding is almost done. I can’t wait to post pictures.  It really is perfect. Okay, so the colors are perfect.  The sewing is not. Yikes!  Every time I walk into her room and see the bedding I get pretty excited.  I will try to have things more “together” next week and post pictures then.

I had a baby shower this past weekend.  It was a church shower.  I will post pictures from that very soon.  I got several goodies there.  It was also nice to be able to add to our diaper/ wipes stash.  I was VERY excited about a specific gift. I will post it later also.  It was actually something that I had on my “to do” list for the nursery and can now mark it off!!! It was a quote from Elizabeth Prentiss.  Seriously, one of the best ever.

Lets see…potty training is another big issue.  I don’t feel like we will ever get it completely! Ty still has never told us that he needs to sit on the potty.  It’s been a week.  We did do our first adventure out last night with no diapers.  All 3 guys needed a haircut before baby 3 gets here.  So, in the amount of time that we did 3 cuts, we had 4 wet undies.  The 4 belong to the 2 boys potty training, not the 4 family members.  I was pretty prepared though.  I had a potty training bag with me.  Extra shorts, undies, wipes, Clorox wipes, paper towels, bags for wipes, bags for wet clothes, treats…I’m probably missing something.  I wanted to be prepared though!  After the haircuts though we went to Walmart to buy a new grill, more undies, and plastic training pants.  I was SO proud of them!  We weren’t there long, but they were able to stay dry the whole time!! They stayed dry the whole car ride and we were even able to stop at Burger King to pick up dinner.  Yay!

Potty Training Boy 2

I had planned to blog this whole experience but Ian is home with us again after being away for a week. It was a pretty busy weekend, so I haven’t really had a chance or desire to blog about this.  Micah is still doing great.  He pretty much always tells us now when he needs to sit on the potty.  Today has been 2 weeks for him.  I am still very pleased with how well he is doing.

We started training Ty on Friday.  As I mentioned before I did not look forward to training twins, but I especially did not look forward to training Ty. He has no interest AT ALL in sitting on the potty.  It usually ends in tears (for him) when he has to sit.  I refused to make them sit on the potty. With Micah I didn’t have to.  Ty is a different, stubborn story.  So today is day 4 with Ty and he still hasn’t let me know he needs to sit.  He usually comes up to us saying “pee pee in flow” (floor)  We explain every time that he should not go in the floor or his undies that it should be on the potty but he doesn’t seem to care.

Over the weekend we bought a tiny seat to go on top of our toilet.  They have both used the big potty but seem to prefer the little potty since they can watch TV while going.  I honestly don’t mind at this point.  We have less than 5 weeks till our little one gets here and as long as they aren’t going so much in their diapers I don’t care which potty it is.  It would be nice if we could get them to go on the big potty though. I know that would be less work for Rebekah when she comes to watch them.  Plus, potty chairs just really gross me out!

Yogurt Dots

I was looking on Pinterest today and found (these) yummy looking yogurt bites.  Ian was at the grocery store so I asked him to pick up some strawberry yogurt for me.  I was so excited to try these.  I am SO glad I did!

You just pour the yogurt in a zip lock bag and cut a hole in the corner.  Drop little dots on a cookie sheet, I used wax paper for easy clean up.  That’s how I roll.  Put them in the freezer for 1 hour and you have a yummy treat!  I do think next time I will freeze them slightly longer, maybe add 15 minutes.

These were great for the boys.  So much less messy than yogurt with a spoon.  I feel like this would be a good afternoon snack with maybe banana and animal crackers. Maybe that only sounds good to me because I am pregnant.  Good thing about doing it this way is that we only used a 6 oz. container of yogurt rather than 12 oz.   It seemed to take the boys a little longer to eat these also than it did yogurt at breakfast this morning.

These will also make a yummy summer time treat.  I am not sure how fast these will thaw in the hot sun though.  You will probably have to eat them immediately.  I don’t think we have a problem with that though!!!!

Baby Bedding Part 1

While my sister was here visiting this past week I had decided that our big project to get done would be baby bedding.  I was so excited to know that I would have that out of the way and then would finally be ready for my baby to get here.  Well, we didn’t get it done.  We worked on it, but so much went wrong and we had such a hard week.  Thankfully, I now have the bed skirt finished.  This project that I thought would be SO easy ended up not being so fun.  Mostly because I am terrible at measuring things, I didn’t know this until I made this project.  Also, I had to take out a whole side of stitches because I sewed it on wrong.  AND lastly, I went an extra step and sewed a little section that now that it’s on the bed I see didn’t need to be done.  Oh well! Not worrying about it.  Unless someone comes over and says it needs to be changed (REBEKAH).

I am hoping the look will come together more once I get the bumper pad finished.  I really dread that project.  Rebekah has started it for me, but there is so much left to do on it. blah!  Her clothes are all washed and hanging in the closet.  I have one more load to wash.  Diapers and wipes are stored under her bed.  There is still a lot to put away and a lot to do.  I have a little less than 5 weeks to finish.  I can totally do that!!

Contractions

Yesterday was tough! I won’t bore you with all I did yesterday but it was busy busy! My sister and I went to a consignment sale to see what we could find for our kids.  I got several CUTE things! Things I am super excited about! You would think I would have went crazy buying girlie things but I didn’t.  I wanted to be picky when I went in.  We have so many pink things that I decided to look for things that were different.  I had not had dinner and my hips and back were killing me and it was SOOOO overwhelming seeing all those girl clothes.  I left with 2 rompers, 1 shirt, 1 dress, and 4 onesies.  Shocking, I know! I do plan to go to half off day and try to find a few things.  All the things I bought were perfect though.  Maybe I will post some pictures soon.

So, we left there and picked up Mexican food then headed home, put the kids to bed and watched tv and ate.  I had been having a few Braxton Hicks through out the night, but that’s not uncommon. I have been having them since 20 weeks this pregnancy.  16 weeks last pregnancy. No big deal.  Then they started hurting and I was having pressure in areas that I am not sure were normal with BH. After 2 and half hours of timing them and they happened almost exactly 7 minutes apart, my back started cramping.  That was the point I decided to call the doctor.  At midnight.  We made a late night trip to the hospital, even walking in I had 3 big contractions, but the second I laid down on the bed they stopped.  This always happens to me.  They did see irritability with the uterus, enough to put me on procardia apparently.  Not fun.  I was glad that I wasn’t having preterm labor.  I am only 33 weeks.  I was glad to finally get home at  3:30 am and get some sleep. I was exhausted!!

This pregnancy stuff has been hard! I assumed having a single pregnancy this time would be so much easier.  I know it has been easier in a lot of ways, but in some ways it has been harder, or maybe just as hard.  6 more weeks!

Potty Training Day 8

I really, really dreaded potty training this round.  I seriously just wanted to wait till they were like 5 and let them figure it out on their own.  However, I knew that would be a little ridiculous.  I have been very surprised and pleased with how it’s going so far.  Micah is doing GREAT!  At day 8 we had no puddles to clean up. yay! AND he hasn’t demanded a treat after every success so I have only been giving them first thing in the morning and when he remembers them.  He even stayed dry during nap time and one trip to a store for about an hour.  He had a diaper on both times though, I am not that crazy!

I haven’t started with Ty yet, only because he has had RSV and has felt pretty rough but I know it has to happen soon.  I really dread it too.  He just isn’t interested.  I would LOVE to have them mostly trained by the time the baby gets here in 6 weeks.  It would be nice to buy diapers for 1 baby and not 3!!

Potty Training Day 4, Dentist, RSV

Today has been a CRAZY day! I went to see my OB this morning and we scheduled a C-Section.  She actually has a date that she will be here. Unless she comes earlier.  I guess we need to get a name for her!

I also had to take Ty to the doc today.  He has had a fever since Monday and a runny nose since Sunday.  It all happened pretty fast!  But as the days went on his cough got worse and last night he seemed to be struggling to breath.   We usually don’t go to the doctor for every little thing, because these boys get sick a lot! But we decided to take him on.  Last time he had trouble breathing, even though it was much worse last time, he had pneumonia.  They said he had all the symptoms of RSV and the test came back positive. Boo!  She thinks he is actually on the downward slope of it, but he shouldn’t be around other babies till the fever is gone.  Apparently RSV is highly contagious amongst the little people.  I was happy there was no pneumonia also.  That could have been rough!

So after that, the boys had a dentist appointment.   Their first one.  It went fine.  Ty obviously didn’t get checked out, but Micah did wonderful.  Yay for Micah.  He let them to everything they needed to and didn’t whine even the first time.

So, in the middle of all that, we are still potty training.  Can I complain for 1 second about how exhausted I am???? haha.  Thankfully my mom was here to watch the boys during my OB visit and that gave me a tiny break.  Micah has done really well today.  He threw one big fit when I tried to take his diaper off this morning, but has only had 1 accident in his undies during the 4 hours he was diaperless.  I am NOT ready to run errands with out diapers right now.  It makes me shudder to even think about it! haha.  I am not sure when I should start back up with Ty.  I want him to be healthy again when we start. I think that is the smartest and will make things easiest.  I’m still pleased with how this is going.  Please be praying for us during this time.  We really need the prayers right now.  Especially me!!!!
