God is good!

Wow! What a week we have had!  Most of you know the story about what happened, but I will do a recap just in case…

Ty had a fever of 102 Sunday and Monday, Monday night it spiked up to 106.2. We decided to take him to the ER, we are thankful we got there when we did because Ty had a seizure about 10 minutes after we got there.

Let me just say, that was the scariest 30 minutes of my life!! He just wasn’t stopping and we were so scared!  I believe it was told that the seizures last 1.5 hours, we were told that by our doctor at Vandy, but then she came back to tell us that she was told wrong, it was actually 30 minutes.  I was glad to hear that. I had tried to watch the clock that night to get an idea on how long it was lasting and I thought it was 30 minutes.

It is not uncommon to have a seizure when the fever spikes up.  However, Ty was just so unresponsive and his movements were off, the doctor in Cookeville wanted to do tests because he believed it wasn’t a febrile seizure.  They did a CT scan (which came back clear) and a spinal tap for meningitis which also came back clear, praise God!  So anyways, they wanted to send him to Vandy because they have Pediatric Specialists there and maybe they could help us more.  The doctor just seemed to think it was more than just a virus. So, we loaded Ty up and Ian followed me and Ty in the Ambulance to Vanderbilt. I was SO carsick on the way, ambulance drivers drive crazy!!  They were great though. They gave him a little duck, and the lady loaded Veggie Tales onto her cell phone for him to watch and let him hold it till he fell asleep.  He only lasted 3 songs:)

We did find out that it was viral, not bacterial like some of the tests showed.  He is doing much better now.  The seizures did mess with his balance and caused him to have trouble walking for a day or 2, but he is back to normal now. No damage was done! Again, praise God!

As hard as it was, it was such a sweet time for me and Ian to spend it with Ty.  I again, realized how thankful I am for such a wonderful husband to have by my side during this hard time.  It was such a blessing to me to have someone like him to love me and love our babies so much.  It was a blessing to see him praying over our baby and hearing him sing hymns to him when all i could do is hold him and cry.  God has definitely blessed us with 2 precious boys.  We continue to thank God for each day that He gives us to take care of and love on Ty & Micah.  That He chose US to take care of these sweet babies!  GOD IS GOOD!

But this I call to mind, & therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  -Lamentations 3:21-23
