Brotherly Love

Ty & Micah are always doing the cutest things, but as soon as I pull out my camera they decide to stop. I am sure it is like that with all babies.  This time Micah was looking at his book and Ty decides to give him a few hugs. I was able to grab my camera and get a few shots.  Sadly, the pictures are blurry, but oh well!

Finding Nemo

Who knew that Nemo lives in Chattanooga! haha Well, we had a wonderful weekend in Chattanooga with my sister, her husband, and nephew.  I was very excited to go to McKays used bookstore.  Ian hates the place and never wants me to go, so I go every chance I get! I love it!  We also visited the Aquarium while we were there.  We weren’t sure what Ty & Micah would think about it, but they LOVED it!  They would fuss every time we would leave one tank to go to the other:)  They were so very excited when we found Nemo.  All 3 boys stood around the tank yelling ‘NEMO NEMO NEMO NEMO’ haha it was so cute!  I was very glad to get a picture of ‘Nemo’ because Ty & Micah enjoy looking at it from time to time:)

Cousins

It is amazing how impossible a picture of 3 toddlers can be! Even when they are in a crib and can’t run off!!  Here is Dexter, Ty, & Micah in their matching sleepers.

Pillow

I have been wanting to make a few pillows for my bed for a while now.  I really didn’t know what I wanted, but I knew I needed something!  After thinking about this for a while and looking at a few blogs about making pillows, I decided to just do it!  This is what I made:

075

I bought the pillow, but just made the covering for it.  It is a 14x28 pillow.  Perfect for a king size bed!

It is hard to see them in the above picture, but there are 5 rosettes I made out of the same fabric to add a little texture.  The rosettes were very easy to make.  So easy that I am not sure why I put off learning to make them till now.

  073

I am just so excited about my pillow!  I am even more excited to see what I can do next!!! :)

I really didn’t think to take pictures of the process, otherwise I would have done a tutorial. Oh well!  If any one has questions you can always ask me.  I have 4 minutes to publish this blog so I will actually be getting it done today since I said I wanted to!  Sorry it’s so short and doesn’t have more pillow detail!

I couldn’t make the pictures bigger, for some reason it made them very blurry.  How cute are they??!!! I just loved these little outfits from their Aunt Alisha:)

2011

So here is my to do list. This isn’t actually my whole to do list. I was embarrassed to put all the little details that are on my actual list:) I like to have a very detailed list.

1. Magnets….what do you know, I just finished those. CHECK!

2. Pillow for my bed. I want a cute pillow for my bed…that I made:)

3. Prayer book for Ty & Micah

4. Bed skirt

5. Block ornaments....(started these but then decided I didn't like the paper on it. will probably end up trying to recover them)

6. Dress for myself. Okay. I have bought 2 dress patterns that I really like. One, I have had for a few years, but never got around to making it. I think I bought the fabric, thread, zipper..everything! but never made it. The second dress I tried to make but bought the wrong kind of fabric…then I saw a 2 year old dress EXACTLY like it. I will NOT be wearing that dress. I do want to buy the correct fabric and try again though. haha. hmm..wonder what I can make out of that dress….

  • black dress
  • belted dress.....(lost the pattern)

7. Read Forgiven to Forgiving....(started, didn't finish)

8. Read (again) Shepherding a child’s heart...(started, didn't finish. I found out Ian loaned it to someone)

9. Read Don’t make me count to 3

10. Read Bringing up boys

(I am really bad about starting books and not finishing them…finishing them is my goal this year)

11. Lose 5 Pounds (why can’t I just say this and the weight go away????) as short as I am 5 pounds makes a big difference. I was very proud of myself for getting back down to my pre baby weight and fitting into my pre baby jeans, but it’s still not the same. I guess I will have to break down and do crunches in 2011. haha..... (ended up losing my 5 pounds but then got pregnant and gained it back)

for the most part this is it. There are tons of other things I have on my list. There is a cute skirt that I will never get around to making, accessories, baby stuff….OH there is a cute t-shirt I hope to make the boys…well, decorate for the boys. Who knows if I will get around to all this stuff. But having it on my blog for all to see, hopefully I will be so excited to show everyone the finished product that it will make me accomplish something:) Everyone should blog their to do lists:)

Mod Podge Magnets

I have been wanting to Mod Podge a few things for a while now.  I finally bought some!!!  I can’t wait to hopefully share my projects I will be doing!

First was Magnets.  I have been in need of magnets for a while now.  All of mine seem to be these big, HUGE, silly things that some how ended up on my fridge.  I wanted small and cute.  I kept thinking I would just go buy some tiny round ones, but that never happened!  I was in Hobby Lobby shopping today. I first got the Mod Podge, then happened up on the magnets.  Why not just make my own???  So I did.   They are nothing spectacular, but they are small and simple and that is what I wanted.

Mod podge, magnets, paper, and a brush to apply paste. Oh! and a little sand paper for the edges.

The finished picture isn’t great, but I didn’t want to switch lens on the camera:)  I was pleased with the results and it only took about 10 minutes and less than $2.

And A Happy New Year!

It’s a new year! wow! This past year went by SO fast.  We have much to give thanks for.  God really has blessed us this past year.

As always, I have resolutions for the new year.  This year my list seems so much bigger though.  I have so many craft projects I want to do.  I really am just so excited to get started…so excited, but I don’t know where to start:)  Some of my projects are baby related and some are decorating related.  I also have really slacked on having friends over for dinner. I admit, I get comfortable with having the same few people over to our house over and over and then I feel like I don’t see certain people very much.  This year I plan to change that!  Also it would be nice to lose a few pounds:) can’t forget that!

I do hope to blog about some of my projects!  My sister insists that I should post a list of things I plan to do…maybe I will come back and add that later!

Anyways,  I hope all of you have a wonderful new year!
