Is it pneumonia or not???

Ty has a cough for a few days now, but on May 12th he woke up breathing REALLY hard, a fever, and still a cough.  The fever and cough were nothing new to us.  Ty gets sick a lot, this cough wasn’t anything scary, I knew he would be better soon.  The breathing was what scared me.  We were able to get him in to see his doc the same day.  We were in and out in 10 minutes.  Daryl, our doctor, listened to his lungs and said it sounded like he might have pneumonia.  He sent us to the ER to have x-rays done.  They told us after 3 hours that he did not have pneumonia, it was something else. He kept saying bacteria.  We have no idea what that meant.  He put him on antibiotics and steroids and gave him a breathing treatment before he sent us home.  Said he saw no reason to keep him.  Told us to make an appoint the next morning to see our family doc.

SoOOo our family doc wasn’t going to be in today, so he scheduled us an appointment with a co worker.  The coworker said he still thought it was pneumonia.  That he wanted him to go back to the hospital to be evaluated for a day or 2.

We came to the hospital, got settled in the room, the talked to the doc here.  She said according to the x-rays he does not have pneumonia, it must be a virus.

Tonight, we were told by the nurse that he does have pneumonia, we told her that we were told he did not, so she went to check again.  She came back to say that it does say he has pneumonia in his file, BUT if the doctor this morning looked at his x-ray and said he doesn’t have it, then he doesn’t have it.  blah!! So, as of right now he does NOT have pneumonia.  This is exhausting!  He is not being treated right now since it looks like a virus.  We were told to stop giving him the meds the ER gave him last night.  He does have an IV for fluids and a oxygen thing in his nose.

They said they are pretty much trying to get his breathing back to normal, then he can go home.  Hopefully we will see the doctor early tomorrow.

He has been VERY pitiful.  He cries every time a nurse comes in the room.  He cries “mama dada mama dada my-nah my-nah my-nah” that’s mama, dada, and micah for those that can’t understand baby talk:)

I went home tonight to get a few things from the house, visit with Micah and put him to bed.  I let the boys talk on the phone for a few minutes and it was THE sweetest thing ever.  Micah was saying ‘ty’ over and over…Ty was saying ‘my-nah’. It really was very sweet.  I know they will be very happy to see each other again.

Please keep us in your prayers.  Even when we get to go home this won’t be over.  Ty will still be sick and pitiful for a few days.  It is exhausting and sad!

Even though this is so hard, I am definitely thanking God that it wasn’t worse than this.  We could have been in Vandy again and so far from Micah.  Ty’s sickness could have been much worse.  It is so scary to have a sick baby but our hope and trust is in God.  That is how we get through this.

fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10

  2. =(....He look like he was in high spirts despite all the hookups and not feeling well. I will keep praying for health in your home, and that everyone now stays healthy. I know how exhausting a sick little one can be both phyiscally and emotionally exhausting.
